More than 2 million Americans per year travel abroad to meet their healthcare needs. Global medical tourism spends are estimated at over $70 billion. While growing rapidly, the infrastructure in place to service Americans seeking services abroad is still in development, something the Association is actively working to improve. With healthcare costs in the US approaching 20% of GDP, now more than ever, Americans are seeking high quality services at price points citizens of other countries already enjoy. The time is now to build bridges between American and the rest of the world in order to foster equitable access to healthcare for all.
